I don't think we have the same issue around here in Chiang Mai either, there are so many foreigners (both tourists and expats) that nobody cares. Probably parents and people around know quite a bit but nothing has ever come back to us. Not that I do anything that could be met with a lot of disapproval, but still, I feel better this way.
There is a guy in my street who teaches at another school. Right opposite lives one of his students. But apparently he can go on having parties or dumping a dozen beer bottles outside the gate without any problems. I would feel a little uncomfortable, he doesn't.

I understand the situation your teachers are in being the only (few) Westerners in a sea of Thais.

I spend a bit of time in Chonburi and I have the same issue.

Wherever I go people stare and point at me and talk about me as I approach.

It doesn't help being 6' tall and blonde either but it's all good.

I would like to come to Thailand to teach but I don't have the required degree.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. :)
